Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I’m looking forward to meeting with you at an in-person town hall this Saturday, March 28, in Battle Ground. With the 2026 legislative session having just concluded on March 12, Rep. Stephanie McClintock and I will be there to walk you through the major developments and what they mean for our communities and the entire state of Washington.

One of the key topics we plan to cover is the recent vote by the majority party to implement a state income tax. We’ll share my perspective on the 24-hour floor debate, explain what the legislation does, and discuss what could come next, including the potential for future expansion.

We’ll also talk about the newly approved operating budget, which now exceeds $80 billion. I have serious concerns about the continued growth in government spending, as well as the reliance on uncertain revenue projections and transfers from reserves to balance the budget.

Beyond those major issues, this town hall is an opportunity to discuss everything else that happened in Olympia this session and how it impacts families across our district and the state.

The 90-minute meeting will take place from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Battle Ground City Hall, located at 109 SW 1st Street. I encourage anyone with questions, concerns, or ideas about state government to attend. Rep. McClintock and I look forward to seeing you this Saturday.

It’s an honor to serve you.

Sincerely,

John Ley
