Battleground High School student joins Rep. John Ley in Olympia as a House page

Seaton Catholic High School freshman, Alex Farrell, recently spent a week at the state Capitol in Olympia, to serve as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives, hosted by Rep. John Ley.

During his week serving as a page, Alex attended Legislative Page School every day to learn about the three branches of state government, the lawmaking process, and the importance of civil discourse. He also had the opportunity to carry out numerous important duties that help the Legislature operate efficiently.

“It was a pleasure having Alex in Olympia last week,” said Ley, R-Vancouver, who represents the 18th District. “I hope he enjoyed the opportunity to see how the Legislature operates and learn more about state government. Alex did a great job fulfilling his responsibilities and was hard-working and thoughtful. I wish him the best.”

Alex, who is 15 years old, enjoys baseball and golf in his free time.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $65 per day while serving in the program. For more information about the House Page Program, click here.

The House Page Program runs through each legislative session.
